Welcome to the BeadySam Glass Studio!

The "Torcher Chamber" - my lampworking studio.

Come and have a browse around....

This is the outside of my "Torcher Chamber". The wooden box with corrugated roof hides my propane bottle. The building used to be an old pig sty way back when.  We decided to replace the roof, replaster the walls, and give inside and out a lick of paint!  It has corrugated roofing that helps provide ventilation but it can get windy too!  The piece of wood on the front acts as a bit of a wind break, but still needs painting...

This is some of my glass colours.  This lot is all Effetre/Moretti glass from Italy.  Its soft glass and comes in an amazing range of colours, though like all glass addicts I'm always on the look out for more colours!

This is more glass!  Again mainly Effetre/Moretti but there is a little bit of Reichenbach on here too.  This storage is a funky unit my hubby made for me.  It has a light in the back of it and when you turn it on, all the lovely colours of the glass just glow.

Okay, more glass!  Yes, I know, I need some proper storage!  The top couple of shelvers are covered in some of the tubs of frit I use in my frit blends.

In the top right hand corner - you can just see the edge in red - is my mini vending machine.  I'm a real diet coke addict so I always have it full of cans of nice cool pop to drink while slaving away at a hot torch...

This is my lovely kiln!  I got it from the USA, and its made by Jen-Ken. It is nice and big and has a bead door that I can pop my beads into as I'm working.

Here you can see some of my presses - although I rarely use them, there's something about glass tools that makes me want to own them!  I've got little glasses filled with coloured stringer.  On the days when my Mojo goes walkabout I pull stringer, lots and lots of stringer!

This is a bit more of my desk, the presses and stringer.  You can also see my sexy little torch - a Bobcat by Glass Torch Technologies. You can see I have a mirror in front of my torch.  I find it helps me to keep my mandrels straight, helps with stringer control and, I can keep an eye on my torch face for debris.

These are some of the rods in use.  I tend to grab a handful of colours I fancy and pop them in the vase so they are at hand for when I'm ready for them.  There are a few tools there too, and my sparker to light my torch with.

You can see my torch and mirror better in this piccy.  If you look in the mirror you can see the roof beams - its a good job I'm only short at 5`1" cos my head touches the roof at one side of the studio! Six footers don't stand a chance in here!!!!

In this photo you can see my oxycon next to the fire extinguisher.  Also there is my stereo that I got for nothing on Freecycle.  I usually listen to Radio 2 and particularly love Jeremy Vine in the afternoon - you can often hear me singing along to the music or shouting at the radio when disagreeing with Jeremy Vines callers!
