Welcome to the HELP! - FAQ page!

Do you need a bit of help?  Well you've come to the right page! Drop me an email if you can't find what you are looking for here.

Hiya, are you here because there is something you need to know?  Hopefully I will answer your question on this page but if not, please don't hesitate to email me at mail@beadysamglass.com and I will do my best to help.

Payment
I am happy to take PayPal, Cheque or Postal Order, also payment by Credit Card.  Cheques made payable to Samantha Darnbrough.  For cheque payment just cut and paste your cart into an email, or email me a list of your requirements and I'll send you out an invoice via email.  For PayPal e-cheques, please contact me first before paying by this method.
If you would like to pay by card please email for my phone number.

Postage
Take a look at the postage page and choose the option that suits what you have in your shopping cart - its dependant on how much you have spent, and what you have bought.  Decide if you want Recorded Delivery or not and add the correct option to your cart.  If you are still unsure (and I know it can be a bit confusing!) feel free to drop me an email.

If you forget to add postage don't panic!  I will refund your order and invoice you for the whole amount.

UK Shipping
Postage is usually by First Class post (unless otherwise stated). I obtain Proof of Postage on ALL orders and no responsibility can be taken for loss or damage within the postal system.  Orders are usually sent within 72 hours (unless otherwise stated), but obviously weekends and Bank Holidays, or postal strikes can delay shipping a little.

My village Post Office has changed its opening days to Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings only.  Post will definately go out on these days, but on the remaining days it means a trip into town - obviously its not worth it for one or 2 packages, but if that is the case, they will definately be posted the next working day(including Sat mornings).

International Shipping

Now, international postage can get complicated so rather than put every option on the Postage Page, its probably easiest for you (and me) if you use the PayPal shopping cart as usual - but don't checkout. Just copy and paste the cart into an email, or simply email me with a list of what you want and I'll send you an invoice with international postage included. As a guide, postage is usually around £1-£2 more than UK postage so its not too scary!  If you aren't happy with the postage quoted, you are under no obligation to complete your purchase, and I'm happy to look at cheaper methods - but that may mean you don't get your goods as quickly.
I obtain Proof of Postage on ALL orders and no responsibility can be taken for loss or damage within the postal system.  Orders are usually sent within 72 hours (unless otherwise stated), but obviously weekends and Bank Holidays, or postal strikes can delay shipping a little. Packages sent to Europe take from 3 days after posting in the UK, although I have known item arrive the next day, and also up to 3 weeks later!

Packaging
The majority of the packaging I use is brand new but occasionally I reuse bubblewrap or boxes.  If you have any strong feelings about this please don't hesitate to let me know.

Returns - Beads
Glass beads are very difficult to photograph - and  while every effort has been made to show a true representation of colour etc, occasionally a bead will be not quite what you expected.  In recognition of this, I am happy to refund the price of the bead minus postage costs as soon as the bead is returned back to me.
All beads are annealed in a kiln for strength and durability but as they are made from glass and other ingredients, very occasionally faults can occur.  If this is the case and a bead arrives damaged, a full refund or replacement bead will be offered. No refund/replacement is available for damage due to wear and tear.

Returns - Lampworking Supplies
If you change your mind about your order, I will offer a refund, minus postage costs and a 10% restocking fee, as long as the goods are returned unused and in resellable condition.
If there is a problem with your order or there has been damage in the postal system, please contact me in the first instance, but also retain packaging and take photographs of damage if at all possible.

Safety Issues
Beads - All beads are fully annealed in a digital kiln for strength and durability.  However, please remember at all times that they are made of glass and so are somewhat fragile. Normal day-to-day wear should cause no problems.   If and damage occurs please stop wearing/use of the bead immediately and discard safely as you would with any other broken glass.
Glass beads are not toys and should never be given to children.  Not only are they fragile they are also a potential choking hazard.

Frit - Always use a suitable respirator when working with frits.  They are potentially damaging to the lungs and sufficient ventilation must always be used.

Rods - Ends of rods can be sharp so be careful not to cut yourself!

COE - Coefficient Of Expansion
Zimmermann - 94coe
Reichenbach - 91-94coe or 104coe for the lampworking range
Kugler - 89-93coe
Gaffer - 96 coe
